Sun Certification Retake Promotion is Back

Got this from Sun Microsytems’ newsletter this morning. Apparently, the free retake promo is back.

Purchase a Sun certification exam by April 30, and should you need it, you can retake the exam one additional time for free.

Step 1: Select Your Exam

Select the certification exam of interest from the list of qualifying exams below.
Check Your Proficiency

With Sun’s free online Proficiency Assessment System you can check your knowledge and skill level with that required to achieve several of Sun’s certification exams.

Step 2: Order Your Exam

You must use Priority Code WW39CX1 when you place your order. Please contact your local training office or country web site for details about Sun professional certification and to order exam vouchers.

This offer is valid in all countries where Sun certification is sold, except India and Japan.

Step 3: Schedule Your Exam

Exams are taken at Authorized Prometric Testing Centers, which are located around the world. After you have purchased your exam voucher, contact the desired testing center to schedule your exam date, time, and location.

Step 4: Schedule Your Retake Exam

Those who purchase a certification exam voucher using the priority code by April 30, 2009, and who do not pass the exam, qualify for the free retake. Simply contact the Authorized Prometric Testing Center in the same manner you did for your initial attempt at the exam, and provide your original certification exam voucher number. You must allow 72 hours after taking your initial exam before scheduling the free retake exam. Please also be aware that per Sun certification guidelines you must wait at least 14 days before you may retake any exam. There is no need to contact Sun to schedule your retake exam.

Are you a Developer who is responsible for creating web services applications using Java technology components such as those supported by the Glassfish Metro Web service stack and the Java Enterprise Edition 5 platform? If so, this is your opportunity to get involved in the creation of the Java Web Services exam!!!!!

As a beta tester, you officially test the test and will be able to provide Sun with valuable comments and technical feedback about the Java Web Services questions. The Sun beta exam counts towards official SCDJWS 5 Certification!

Beta Dates: October 31st, 2008 thru November 21st, 2008

Registration Exam Start Date: October 29th, 2008 – November 5th, 2008

Passing the exam entitles you to the full status of Sun Certified Developer for Java Web Services 5, and you will receive a Sun “certification kit”. A certification kit will have your certificate, Logo Agreement and Letter.

Candidates will have 240 minutes to complete 160 questions, which should allow you time to respond to all questions and provide your valuable comments while taking the exam.

This beta exam is offered Worldwide at any Authorized Prometric Testing Center!

Recommended Prerequisites:

**Prior to attempting this certification, candidates MUST be certified as a Sun Certified Programmer (SCJP), any edition
**Candidates should have at least six to twelve months experience developing Java Web Services

BETA EXAM REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

Unlike other SUN Microsystems certification exams, this exam does NOT require a voucher. To register for the “Sun Certified Developer for Java Web Services 5″, exam number (311-230)” Beta exam, you may register online at www.prometric.com, and follow the prompts. Or, you may register by phone, by calling your regional Prometric registration office, listed at http://www.prometric.com/Sun/default.htm.

This beta exam is offered Worldwide at any Authorized Prometric Testing Center!

Recommended Prerequisites:

Candidates should have six to twelve months experience programming with the Netbeans IDE.

Sun Certification Retake Promotion

To commemorate Sun’s awarding 500,000 certifications, purchase a voucher by June 20 for most Sun certifications – and should you need it, you can take the exam one additional time for free.

Please be informed that Sun is _relaunching the popular Sun Certification Retake Promotion starting April 2008_. Note the voucher code for this program is “DS”. The retake exam is not applicable for any assignment or essay exam. Validity date : 01 April to 30 June 2008

Below are some of the exams which qualify for the Free Retake Promotion. I also added some links to highly recommended books in case you need help with them.

Exam vouchers are only valid in the country in which they are purchased. Each voucher associated with this program is valid for one exam and, if failed, one free retake. You must allow 72 hours after taking your initial exam before scheduling the free retake exam. Certification vouchers may only be used at an Authorized Prometric Testing Center in the country where it was purchased. Please be aware that exam vouchers are non refundable for any reason.
